Sutra 1.15 — Letting Go (Without Walking Away)

Letting go is freedom from craving for what we have seen or heard.

This is where the word detachment often appears.

And this is also where many people quietly start to check out.

Because detachment can sound like:

“Don’t care.”
“Don’t feel.”
“Don’t be human.”

But that’s not what this is pointing to.

Letting go is NOT about caring less.

It’s about not clinging.

You can care deeply.

You can love fully.

You can show up, try hard, and give your best.

And still…

not need everything to go a certain way in order to be okay.

That’s the difference.

Detachment vs Neglect

Neglect says:

“I don’t care.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“I’m checking out.”

Detachment says:

“I care.”
“I’m here.”
“But I’m not gripping this so tightly that it controls me.”

Real Life

You prepare for something important.

You want it to go well.

Of course you do.

Detachment doesn’t mean you stop trying.

It means:

You do your best…
and you don’t collapse if it doesn’t go perfectly.

It creates space.

And in that space, there is a little more ease.

A little more resilience.

A Question to Sit With

Where in your life are you holding on so tightly that it’s creating tension?

What might it feel like to loosen that grip — just a little?
